This Made My Day....

via. http://dcu.blog.dccomics.com/

The Red Hood’s very presence haunts the Dark Knight’s every waking hour.

But how did the Red Hood come to be? What trials did he go through before donning the gleaming red helmet, during those formative years before he crossed paths with Batman?

Writer Judd Winick and artist Pablo Raimondi hope to answer that question in June, with the debut of RED HOOD: THE LOST DAYS, a six-issue mini-series revealing the untold story of the man behind the Red Hood. It’s the tale of an angry young man’s transformation into a deadly villain.

What else is there to say? We went straight to, well, the source on this one - writer Judd Winick. Take it away, Judd:

“I’m thrilled to return to this character, and it’s both a joy and challenge to tackle this new story. LOST DAYS tracks the time from the Red Hood’s rebirth to his return to Gotham. In it, we get to understand this anti-hero in a new way. I think it explains both how he’s sympathetic, and an unrepentant monster. He’s a wonderfully complex character, and I hope this adds some even greater depth to his mythology.”

The series will ship its first two issues in anticipation of the arrival of BATMAN: UNDER THE RED HOOD DVD arriving in stores. The DVD, the next entry in the popular ongoing series of DC UNIVERSE Animated Original PG-13 Movies, hits this summer from Warner Premiere, DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation and showcases Batman confronting new enemies, old foes and painful memories as a powerful vigilante with a penchant for violence comes to Gotham to stake his claim on the city.

And hey, Judd’s got a few things to say about the DVD, too:
“I can barely describe the fun and terror that went into adapting two years worth of story into one film, but the results will be something that will knock everyone on their cans. I couldn’t be prouder, and I’m itching for everyone to get a look.”

Jason's Take

I could not be happier by this news. Everyone knows I'm a huge Jason Todd fan. and Winick. writer of Under The Hood is an excellent writer for this. I won't get my hopes up because I'm used to how DC treats the second Robin, but hopefully this leads to other things. Also I found out that the Batman Beyond comic series will also return, and I was a fan of the show so that's also great. More Jason Todd, Birds of Prey and Batman Beyond? Yes please, lol.

Oh and btw, I added a weekly poll that I'll change um... weekly. So, feel free to vote on that, it's not an ad or anything that'll take you away from the site or open another window. Feel free to mention who you voted for and why, I'd love to hear your reasoning. Or if you have a poll question feel free to submit it as well.

  1. That cover is pretty awesome. I'm actually kind of shocked at how many Jason Todd fans there are in the world. Obviously, it's a great time for anyone who loves the character.

I read somewhere there is going to be a "Superman Beyond" comic as well, which I'm quite interested in seeing.

  2. Yeah I agree with you, I love that cover. I'm also kinda shocked that there's so many Jason Todd fans, then again there's a ton of Guy Gardner fans and he's not the most likable guy around either.

Okay that sounds pretty awesome, I'd definitely read that. I wonder who'd be around though from his Rogues gallery. Brainiac? Some type of... old mostly robotic Lex?

  3. A Jason Todd mini written by Judd Winick? In the immortal words of Red Devil, "Hot Damn!!!" That's probably the best mini-series news I've heard since X-Man came back in Dark X-Men! That's some pretty sweet news for us both JT.

As for who I voted for, I think you already know... I say cancel SAINT Barry's series(before it even gets started :p)and give us a Kid Flash series!

  4. Dude I saw that and had a double take. A Red Who? About Jason Who? Written by Judd Who?! I think this may be something their doing to go along with the DVD but I don't even care, I just hope it leads to more good Jason Todd comics.

I figured you'd vote for Kid Flash :P I did as well, and Falisha voted for Ravager but the rest of the votes are shrouded in mystery. I'm interested in who voted for Cyborg.

  5. One word: nerdgasm. Judd Winick + Red Hood = WIN. Only thing needed to make that better is an artist I've actually heard of. Let's have Jock back on the covers, eh? ;)

  6. You know what would make ME happy is my boy Jim Lee drawing Jason again. I loved how he was drawn in Hush Vol. 2.

  7. What is Jim Lee doing nowadays anyway? I can't think of anything besides, what is it, Wildstorm?

  8. I know he got that promotion in DC, and I think he's working on the Earth-2 Batman and Earth-2 Superman comics that come out later this year.

  9. They're doing Earth-2 Batman and Superman? I didn't know that. Cool. I suppose. Don't really know or care that much about them...

  10. My bad, apparently it's Earth-One but I found the article for ya. Looks interesting.

  11. So Jim Lee isn't but Gary Frank isn't. Sweet. Geoff writing Batman though? Isn't he normally Supes ;)
Might look into getting em, I dunno. Haven't heard of either of the people doing the Supes one though...

  12. Ah my mistake. And yeah I'm surprised to see Geoff write for Bats, I may get it just for that reason.

JMS is taking over for Wonder Woman and Superman's ongoing comics so I'm assuming he's good.

  13. Well you were working from memory. And it's not like the Grungnir incident me and X are talking about.

What's happening to Gail then? And James? And all the other Superman writers?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Well Gail is gonna do Birds of Prey again since that returns soon, no idea about James Robinson. But they announced JMS was taking over like two or three weeks ago.

  15. Well, I've never read her run, but she was good, right?

I would say he should be a good writer, but I don't care about either of those books ;)

    ReplyDelete
  16. Yeah I've heard she was really good but I haven't read her Birds of Prey issues yet. I know Falisha and X both love her work on Wonder Woman right now.

Neither do I, maybe he may get me interested in them?

  17. It does beg the question as to why she's leaving WW then...

I dunno, it's not just the writer, but the characters that bother me with those two. I'm not particularly bothered one way or the other with those two.
Except that Superman and Wonder Woman shouldn't pair up. Diana obviously prefers her man dark, brooding and with very sharp ears ;)

  18. Maybe she couldn't work on that full time and Birds of Prey? No idea to be honest, I'm just hoping Birds is good since I'm a big fan of Dinah and Oracle.

Lol Agreed again, X said he always thought WW and Supes liked each other but I think she definitely likes a certain winged Gotham billionaire.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Probably. I know I couldn't :D
    I might pick up. Possibly

It's a common occurrence (it seems). Supes and WW just because they're both superpowered. But it's a fact women prefer bad boys anyway ;)

    ReplyDelete
  20. I think I will, I know Falisha will be reading so I may just read hers instead.

Lol is that how you get your women Nagash, play the bad boy role?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Well, that's always one advantage of being with a fellow comic nerd :D it's one ridiculously expensive habit, but better than any other ;)

Get women? What's that? I don't understand the question...

    ReplyDelete
  22. Lol I don't know about THAT :P You're right though, sharing comics is much better on the wallet than buying them all :|

Lol I strike my question from the record books.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Yeah, but I do actually like ta own em myself ;)

Aw, come on, it's mostly just cause I don't have time to go out and meet new people, and really, am just not bothered. Meh. More important things to do.
    Like BUYING COMICS :D

    ReplyDelete
  24. I figure anything she buys I can take and vice versa, lol. And since I don't see a break up anytime soon on the horizon I know I pretty much own em all haha.

I feel you on that. I like to stay home, relax, read comics and play video games, I'm not about going out either. I just lucked up and found someone who's the same way. If you met a girl at a comic shop you'd be set haha.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Not the thing to say there lol ;)
I just like owning things myself, not relying on other people. But then I also like to read em and such random times anyway

I work most of the day, read when I can, and occasionally play games. And eat SOOOO much food and love sleep. No time for anything else ;)
Yeah. And not into much manga/anime. Actually, scratch that, just not into fanfic/yaoi...
